processes, weaken the immune system, cause neurotoxic disorders, and lead to cancer.<\/li><li>Tobacco smoke during pregnancy increases the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, low birth weight, reduced lung function, asthma, respiratory failure, and middle ear infections.<\/li><\/ul><p>Common illnesses include diarrhea, respiratory infections, accidental injuries, and malaria.
